A Dhaka court has sent Bakhtiar Alam Rony, a son of ruling Awami League MP Pinu Khan to jail custody after remand in a case over shooting two dead in Dhaka. Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor sent him to the jail on Saturday. His lawyers filed a bail petition when he was produced before the court after the four-day remand. The magistrate set June 16 to hear the plea, General Recording Officer Mahmudur Rahman said. Rahman said the magistrate heard another petition seeking medical treatment for Rony. He ordered to take steps in keeping with the jail code, he added. Police said the son of the ruling MP from a seat reserved for women, facing a slight traffic jam, let go his  licensed gun from inside a microbus at New Eskaton early on Apr 14. Auto-rickshaw driver Yakub Ali and rickshaw-puller Abdul Hakim died in the shooting. Hakim’s mother Monowara Begum filed a case at Ramna Police Station against unidentified people on Apr 15. Rony and the driver of the microbus Imran Fakir were arrested on May 31 for their alleged link to the killings. Police took Rony on remand last Tuesday, according to a news agency.
