MPs' unreleased cars handed over to govt pool

FE REPORT | Thursday, 13 November 2025

Thirty-one luxury vehicles imported duty-free by members of the now-dissolved 12th National Parliament have been officially handed over to the government's transport pool, following a directive from the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
The cars, which remained unreleased at customs ports after the fall of the Hasina government on August 5, 2024, were imported under the lawmakers' special tax exemption facility.
In a special order issued on Wednesday, the NBR instructed the Chittagong Customs House to transfer the vehicles to the Ministry of Public Administration for use in the public interest.
