Monday, 3 March 2014

A court here on Monday sent suspended Bangladesh Railway (East Zone) general manager Yusuf Ali Mridha to jail after rejecting his bail petitions in five cases filed over his alleged corruption in railway recruitment. Judge of Chittagong Metropolitan Session Judge’s court SM Mujibur Rahman passed the order as surrendered to the court at noon seeking bail. A total of 13 cases were filed by the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) against Mridha in connection with corruption and irregularities in recruitment to his department at different times. Later, the court framed charges against him in five out of 13 cases. Mridha had been on the run since the ACC filed a case with Kotwali Police Station on September 13, 2012 for recruiting ineligible people by manipulating recruitment test results, according to UNB.
