Dhaka Mohammedan SC made a flying start in the 3rd Women's Club Cricket League beating Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by 41 runs in the opening match at the Gulshan Youth Club ground in the city Wednesday, reports UNB.
Winning the toss, Mohammedan SC batted first and scored a modest 164 runs for 7 in stipulated 40 overs with one down Rumana Ahmed contributing a polished 78 runs off 115 balls with 12 fours.
Opener Shaila Sharmin (36) and Salma Khatun (13) were the other major contributors for Mohammedan SC while another 25 runs came from extras.
National colour Panna Ghosh captured four wickets for 42 runs while Lily Rani and Suborna Islam took one wicket apiece.
In reply, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club were all out for 123 in 34 overs with national colour Chameli Khatun scoring 51 runs off 69 balls that featured seven boundaries.
Reshma Akhter (19) and Panna Ghosh (12) were the other notable scorers for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club.
Shaila Sharmin grabbed three wickets for 25 runs, Salma Khatun claimed two wickets for 29 runs and Rumana Ahmed took one wicket for 22 runs.
Rumana Ahmed was adjudged player of the match.
A total of 10 clubs, split into two groups, are taking part in the 40- over-a-side match. After the league basis first round, top three teams from each groups will qualify for the final round.

Group A: Mohammedan SC, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, Azad SC, Dipali Jubo Sangha and Orient SC.
Group B: Abahani Limited, BKSP, Gulshan Youth Club, Kalabagan KC and Indira Road KC.
