MSC reach semis

Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club (MSC) moved into the semifinal of the Federation Cup Football Tournament eliminating outsider Feni Soccer Club by 2-1 goals in the 2nd quarterfinal at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city Wednesday, reports UNB
The traditional black and white Mohammedan SC will play the 2nd semifinal Monday (March 3) against the winners of Dhaka Abahani and Muktijoddha Sangsad KC, who will meet each other in the 4th quarterfinal on Friday.
In the day's match, Mohammedan SC took lead in the 21st minute as their substitute defender Biplu Ahmed fired the net by an angular shot off a back pass by midfielder Abu Sayed Jewel (1-0).
Guinean forward Ismail Bangoura doubled the Mohammedan's lead in the 39th minute by a rebound header when his first attempt came his way again via a punch by Soccer Club goalie Ahsan Habib Bipu (2-0)
Forward Sohel Mia reduced the margin for Soccer Club in the 90th minute, also by a placing shot, utilising on a cutback of Dawda Ceesay from the left. (2-1).
Earlier, Soccer Club came close to reduce the margin in the 57th minute. A powerful shot of their Gambian midfielder Dawda Ceesay was initially saved by Mohammedan goalie Mohammad Nehal diving to his left, but another forward Sohel Mia failed to connect the rebounder from close.
Feni Soccer Club managed another close call in the 82nd minute, but Mohammedan custodian Nehal saved his castle again by punching away a fierce 25-yard shot from midfielder Dawda Ceesay at the cost of a corner.
