MTB training workshop on anti-money laundering

Mutual Trust Bank Ltd (MTB) held a day-long training workshop on anti-money laundering (AML), which was the last of the planned series of training workshops for the year 2009, in the city recently, says a press release.
Deputy Managing Director of MTB Quamrul Islam Chowdhury inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest. Senior executive vice presidents of the bank Md Hashem Chowdhury, AKM Shameem, Vice President and Chief Anti-money Laundering Compliance Officer Swapan Kumar Biswas were also present.
A total of 37 participants from various branches took part in the training session.
Quamrul paid much importance on training on AML as well as combating financing of terrorism (CFT).
He said this training would play a vital role in complying with the AML and CFT regulations.
He also said the Bank not only emphasised compliance of AML and CFT but also all banking rules prevailing in the country.
He suggested that the participants would try to gather complete knowledge of AML and CFT during the tenure of the course.
Hashem advised the participants to apply very prudently the knowledge gathered from the training so that the laws were complied with properly without hampering customer service.
