Muazzem Ali made envoy to India

The government has appointed Ambassador Syed Muazzem Ali as the new High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India.
A career diplomat, Mr. Ali had served as Ambassador of Bangladesh to Bhutan, Iran and France. He also worked at Bangladesh missions in Washington, Warsaw, New Delhi and Jeddah in different capacities.
He was the Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh in 2001.
Ambassador Muazzem Ali joined the erstwhile Pakistan Foreign Service in 1968 through Central Superior Service Examination, an official release said Sunday.
On 4th August 1971, while working in the Pakistan Embassy in Washington, D.C., he declared his allegiance to the Bangladesh Government in exile. Later, he set up the Embassy of independent Bangladesh in the US capital.
Ambassador Ali obtained his MSc in Zoology from the University of Dhaka.
