Mufti Hannan, two others to die for attack on UK envoy

SYLHET, Dec 23: Harkatul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI) operation commander Mufti Hannan and two other militants were sentenced to death Tuesday for the 2004 grenade attack on former British high commissioner Anwar Choudhury in Sylhet. The Sylhet Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal Judge Shamim Md Afzal also sentenced two others found guilty to life terms, special public prosecutor of the tribunal Fakhruddin Ahmad told the news agency. Three policemen were killed and over 50 were injured, including the former UK envoy, in the grenade attack on May 21, 2004.
