Mufti Izhar, his son, 7 others indicted

Hefazat-e-Islam leader Mufti Izharul Islam his son and seven other people have been indicted in a case filed under the Explosives Act over a bomb blast at a Chittagong madrasa. SM Mojibur Rahman, Metropolitan Sessions Judge, Chittagong, issued the order on Sunday. An explosion ripped through the second floor of a dormitory at Jamayetul-Ulum-Al Islamia Madrasa, run by the Hefazat-e-Islam Nayeb-e-ameer, in October last year. Five students were injured in the explosion – three of whom died later while under treatment. Mufti Izhar is also the chief of a faction of the Islami Oikyo Jote. Mufti Izhar’s son Harun bin Izhar Chowdhury was in-charge of the dormitory when the explosion occurred on Oct 7, 2013. Harun and seven others were present before the court except Izhar. The court also fixed April 28 for the next hearing of the case, according to bdnews24.com and another news agency.
