Mufti Izhar, his son among 5 charged

CHITTAGONG, Jun 11 (UNB): Police Wednesday pressed charges against five people, including nayeb-e-ameer of Hefajat-e-Islam Mufti Izharul Islam and his son Harun Izharul, in a murder case filed in connection with a bomb blast at a madrasah here in October last year.
Khulshi thana SI Md Shah Alam, also investigation officer of the case, submitted the chargesheet with the metropolitan magistrate court in the morning.
The other chargesheeted accused are Junayed, Habibur Rahman and Muhammad Ishaq-all of them worked at Lalkhanbazar madrasa.
All the accused in the case, except Mufti Izhar, are behind bars.
Three people, including two students, were killed and several others injured in an explosion in a room of a four-storey hostel of Jamiatul Ulum Islami Madrasah at Lalkhan Bazar on October 7, 2013.
Police later recovered large quantity of explosive-making materials, 18 bottles of acid and four unexploded grenades from the surrounding areas of the madrasah. The explosion was believed to have taken place while making bombs.
Three cases - one under the Explosive Substances Act, one under the Acid Control Act and the other for killing - were filed with Khulshi Police Station.
On February 10, police submitted chargesheet against nine people, including Mufti Izharul Islam and his son Harun Izharul, a case filed under Explosive Substances Act in connection with a blast at a madrasah in the port city.
