\\\'Mugger\\\' killed in city \\\'gunfight\\\'

A suspected mugger was killed and another bullet-injured in police firing in Shantek area of Kutubkhali in the city early Monday. The deceased was identified as Sohel, 26, and his associate Sajib. Contacted, provisionary sub-inspector (PSI) Zahirul Islam of Jatrabari Police Station said Sohel and his accomplices were trying to snatch valuables from a pedestrian around 11:45pm. "As the attacked pedestrian screamed, a team of police which was patrolling nearby went to the spot. The gangsters set off several cocktails, prompting the police members to retaliate by firing shots," he said.     — UNB
