FE Report
A listed mugger was stabbed to death at Rampura in the city Tuesday midnight, police said.
Police suspected that the victim--Khokan (28) who was wanted in a number of mugging cases by the city police--might have been killed in dispute over booty among the gang members.
Sub-inspector of Rampura Police Station Belayet Hossain said they found the body on Ulon Road in West Rampura at about 11:45pm. "Khokan might have been knifed as the body bore several stab wounds.
We're looking for the killers," he added.
Meanwhile, a five-year-old schoolboy, who went to a lake for swimming, drowned in the water body at Lalbagh in the morning.
Police said Rabbi, a student of class-I of a local school, dived into the lake, adjacent to Shahidnagar Maternity Hospital, along with his friends at about 10:00am.
At one stage of the swimming, Rabbi went deep into the water.
Later, local people rescued the school kid and rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead.
A witness, who closely watched the pathetic incident, said the boy dived into the water like a professional diver and then swam back to lakeside. He again did that but this time he could not swim ashore.
