Muggers kill engineer, university student in Pabna, Gazipur

In separate incidents, muggers looted two motorcycles after killing an engineer in Pabna and a private university student in Gazipur early Friday. In Pabna, snatchers took away the motorcycle of an engineer after killing him in Madhpur Tepagari area of Sadar upazila in the wee small hours. The deceased was identified as Nadim Hossain Bappi, 30, an engineer of MRS CNG Filling Station in Pakshi of Ishwardi and son of Mozammel Hossain of Atua area of the Sadar upazila. Quoting locals, sub-inspector Abdus Salam of Sadar Police Station said a gang of hoodlums intercepted Nahid near Madhpur Tepagari Bridge around 12:05am while he was returning home by the motorcycle from his workplace in Pakshi.Later, they stabbed Nahid indiscriminately and snatched the bike, leaving him dead on the spot. On information, police recovered the body around 9am on Friday and sent it to Pabna Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. In Gazipur, a private university student was killed and his two friends were injured in an attack by muggers at Tongi of the city in the early Friday. The deceased was identified as Mohiuddin Khokon, 30, a BBA final year student of American Bangladesh University in the capital and son of Jahirul Islam of Duttapara in Tongi. Victim’s family members and locals said a gang of 3-4 snatchers hit the motorcycle of the trio at Cherag Ali Bazar around 4am while they were returning home after placing wreaths at a Shaheed Minar at Tongi, according to UNB.
