Muggers shoot businessman in city

A crockery-trader has been shot in the leg in Shyampur area in Kadamtali in Dhaka and the criminals have made off with around Tk500,000 in his possession. Kadamtali police OC Wazed Ahmed confirmed the shooting in front of Bombay Factory on Sunday noon. The 30-year-old Mohammad Sumon, who owned a shop in Jurain’s Rahman Plaza, was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, ASI Sentu Chandra Das of the police camp at the hospital said. Sumon told bdnews24.com that he withdrew Tk 500,000 as loan from Brac Bank’s Shyampur branch and was returning to his Alambag residence on a rickshaw with his friend ‘Kamal’. Three muggers on a motorcycle stopped the rickshaw, shot him in the leg and fled with the bag of cash.” Ahmed said the bank has confirmed TK 487,000 was withdrawn, according to bdnews24.com.
