Tuesday, 27 December 2011

FE Report Armed muggers snatched Tk 1.0 million from two employees of a firm in the capital's Kakrail area in broad daylight on Monday, police said. Witnesses said the miscreants fired gunshots in the air to scare the people nearby and fled the scene minutes after committing the crime. Assistant Police Commissioner of Ramna SM Shibli Noman said the incident took place at about 12:30pm in front of Eastern Mansion of the area when six muggers riding on two motorbikes intercepted manager of Bornali Fabrics Tajul Islam and its accountant Iqbal Hossain. The gang members then snatched the bag containing Tk 1.0m at gun point. The police officer said the bearers of money should have taken police assistance before carrying the amount to avert such a trouble. "We're investigating the matter," he added. After losing the money, Tajul Islam told reporters that he had withdrawn the money from Shantinagar branch of BASIC Bank from his own account to give loan to the office, which is located at the Eastern Mansion.
