Muggers try to snatch truck injuring its driver: Tk 50,300 looted

A gang of truck lifters, equipped with sharp weapons, swooped on a truck in Sobhanighat in Sylhet city and tried to hijack the vehicle injuring its driver on Saturday night. Police and locals said as driver Jahangir Alam tried to resist the hijackers, they mercilessly beat him and at one stage stabbed him, leaving him injured around 10.00pm. The bandits also snatched away Tk 50,300 and mobile phone set from Jahangir. Hearing screams of the victim, locals came to the spot and the muggers fled away. Jahangir, 35, son of Ataur Rahman of Kanishail Kailash village of Golapganj Upazila, was rushed to a hospital, according to a news agency.
