Tuesday, 9 September 2014

The Defense Division spent at least an additional Tk 6.23 billion (623.13) crore in the 2010-11 fiscal on top of its final allocation, according to a appropriation report of the Defense Services.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Monday placed the report in parliament along with other 16 audit and adjustment reports on different ministries and divisions.
In its report on the defence services that includes the Army, Navy and Air Force, the director general of Defense Audit Directorate Md.  Abdul Baset Khan said that the additional expenditure - 6 percent over its budgetary allocation - exposed weak budgetary management on the part of the defence services.
"Expenditure beyond allocation is a violation of the financial rules," he noted.
