Muhith attributes economic slide to Khaleda\\\'s movement

Wednesday, 14 May 2014

Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Wednesday blamed BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia for the current economic downtrend as the economy suffered heavily due to nationwide shutdowns, non-stop blockades, bombings and killings. “That’s absolutely Khaleda Zia’s responsibility. It’s squarely based on her shoulder,” said Muhith at the inaugural session of a workshop of Economic Reporters Forum (ERF). The then BNP-led 18 party alliance had enforced non-stop nationwide shutdown and blockade programmes for months at the end of last year before the January-5 national election over a dispute with the ruling alliance over the composition of election-time government, according to UNB.
