Muhith lauds BUP\\\'s contribution to country

The Bangladesh Unnayan Parishad (BUP) accorded a reception to Finance Minister AMA Muhith Monday on the occasion of his 80th birthday and BUPs 34th founding anniversary.
The programme was held at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban in the University of Dhaka.
Founding chairman of BUP Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad, former chairmen Dr Farashuddin Ahmed and Dr Asaduzzaman, former executive board member Kazi Saleh Ahmad also spoke at the programme with present chairman M A Jalil in the chair.
Executive Director of BUP Dr Nilufar Banu delivered the welcome speech.
Addressing the reception Mr Muhith said BUP has consistently and uninterruptedly been contributing to the country's development through pragmatic research which is an extraordinary example for Bangladesh.
Expressing gratitude, he recalled his working experience with the members of BUP.
The minister said BUP is a non-biased, non-political and objective research organisation which helped taking policy decision during various governments.
Dr. Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad said BUP's pathway has never been so easy as it does not take any foreign fund for the research.
We work for our own cause on our own fund," he said.
The Bangladesh Unnayan Parishad (BUP) is a non-profit organisation devoted to the promotion of basic as well as action research on socioeconomic development and environment. It was established in 1980 and is registered with the Government of Bangladesh under the Societies Act 1860.
