Muhith leaves for US to attend IMF, WB Group meeting

Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Wednesday left for USA for a three-week official tour to attend the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) Group. The 2014 annual meeting of the IMF and the WB group will be held on October 9-10 in Washington DC. Before attending the IMF and WB meeting, the Finance Minister will be present at a number of programmes in New York. These will include the 69th UN General Assembly, celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Bangladesh Membership of the United Nations (UN), and the Global Citizen Festival-2014. Muhith will also attend a luncheon to be hosted by American Chamber and American Business Council. During the IMF and WB group meeting, the Finance Minister will attend the thematic presentation on ‘Lessons and Challenges of Economic Transition’ and Luncheon by IDB Group. Besides, he will also participate in the Commonwealth Finance Ministers’ Meeting. Muhith will return home on Oct 17, according to a news agency.
