Muhith set to unveil another mega budget

Finance Minister AMA Muhith is ready to place a national budget of Tk 2.5 trillion (2,50,506 crore) for fiscal year (FY) 2014-15 in parliament at 3pm on Thursday. The budget, the first of the current AL government in its 2nd successive term after the January 5 national elections while the 8th by the veteran Finance Minister, is aimed at fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the country's people. Muhith will unveil the annual budget through a digital method or a power-point presentation. The budget for 2014-15 fiscal expects a GDP growth of 7.3 per cent, which is higher than the revised estimate of 6.5 per cent for the outgoing fiscal year. However, the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) cited the current fiscal's GDP growth at 6.12 per cent, according to a news agency.
