Muktijoddha reach semis beating Abahani 1-0

Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra cruised to the last four in the Federation Cup football beating Dhaka Abahani Ltd by a solitary goal in the fourth and last quarter final at the Bangabandhu National Stadium Friday, reports UNB.
Muktijoddha SKC will face Mohammedan Sporting Club in the second
semifinal Monday following the first semifinal between Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra and defending champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club on Sunday (March 1).
The stipulated time of the day's match ended goalless, but Muktijoddha broke the deadlock in the 95th minute as their Senegalese forward Caamara Sarba headed a ball down into net 1-0.
Earlier, Muktijoddha forward Enamul Haque grabbed a back pass of Abahani defender Ariful Islam in the 35th minute when Abahani goalie Ziaur Rahman was out of position. But Enamul hit the side-post of the empty net.
In the 40th minute, Fekri Zeiada, the Egyptian midfielder of Muktijoddha unleashed a fierce drive from the top of the box, however, Abahani goalie Ziaur Rahman punched the ball to safety.
Abahani's substitute forward Aminur Rahman Sajib broke through the Muktijoddha defence in the 49th minute but saw his shot rock the crosspiece.
Abahani were very close to level the margin in the 107th minute but defender Ariful's header on corner of Shakil from the right was saved by opponent defender Anisul Alam from the goal-line.
Abahani was frustrated again when their Nigerian forward Tayo Fabiyi's volley hit the crosspiece in the 117 minutes.
