Muktijoddha Sangsad KC took the top slot of the league's points table beating Rahmatganj MFS by 3-1 goals in the return league match of the B League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city Monday, reports UNB.
Muktijoddha Sangsad secured 25 points, two points ahead of Abahani Limited, Mohammedan SC and Sheikh Russell KC. Rahmatganj tested the first defeat in the second leg and collected eight points.
Alfaz Ahmed, Saiful Islam Moni and substitute Saiful Islam Saif scored one goal each for the winners while Nche Francis netted the lone goal for the losers.
After the barren first half, Striker Alfaz put the freedom fighters ahead in the 53rd minute by placing shot from inside the D-box utilising a close pass from skipper Moni, who stood near danger zone (1-0).
Moni doubled the winners' margin in the 54th minute by a header from inside the danger zone capitalising on a right wing Alfaz cross (2-0).
Nche Francis pulled one back for Rahmatganj in the 58th minute by right footer shot from inside the D-box off super-back-head by Charles Ikogho, who stood in the danger zone (2-1).
Substitute Saif scored the third and last goal for Muktijoddha Sangsad by a placing shot from inside the danger zone after dodging past opponent custodian Amjad Hossain off a left wing Alfaz cross (3-1).
Earlier, the freedom fighters came close to scoring in the 21st minute, but a head taken by Moni narrowly missed the target.
Rahmatganj also got two scoring chances in the first half but failed to net the ball.
The old Dhaka team launched the first attack in the 27th minute, but a shot taken by Charles from inside the danger zone missed the target.
