Munshi Rouf\\\'s martyrdom anniversary observed

FARIDPUR, Apr 21 (BSS): The 43rd martyrdom anniversary of Lance Naik Birsreshtha Munshi Abdur Rouf, who embraced heroic death in the liberation war of 1971, was observed at his native home Salamatpur (now Rouf Nagar) under Madhukhali upazila of this district on Sunday.
The program of the day included hoisting of national flag, Quran Khwani, Doa Mahfil and discussion meeting at Rouf's house where his mother Mukitunnessa is still alive.
Madhukhali Upazila Parishad Chairman Azizur Rahman Molla presided over the discussion meeting while DC of Faridpur Abu Hena Morshed Zaman was the chief guest. BGB representative Major Anowar Zahid and Kamarkhali Union Parishad Chairman Shahabuddin Ahmed Satej addressed the meeting.
DC Morshed Zaman assured that from the next year the death anniversary of Munshi Rouf will be observed through government arrangements. He also told the gathering that the road that connected Rouf's house with the highway will be repaired soon.
In response to a demand from local people, the DC also assured that necessary arrangements are underway for electrification of the Birshreshtha's house.
On behalf of the district administration and BGB some gifts were handed over to Rouf's mother Mukitunnessa.
It may be mentioned here that Munshi Rouf laid down his life as a member erstwhile EPR (now BGB) while he was posted at Mahalchhari in Rangamati district.
