Munshiganj boat capsize leaves two dead

Police say two girls died after the boat they were in sank in a beel near Marialoy Belua village in Tongibari in Munshiganj today. The deceased were identified as Taniya Akhter, 18, and Afsana Akhter, 14. Police said six members of a family got on the boat to roam around the beel. After a while, the boat turned upside down and sank into the beel. Two who knew swimming made it to the bank while four others drowned. People fished out the four from the beel and sent them to Munshiganj Hospital where doctors pronounced Taniya and Afsana dead. Jubayer, 7, and Sami Akhter, 14, were admitted to Tongibari Upazila Health Complex. Doctors pumped out water from their body and declared them out of danger, according to bdnews24.com.
