Munshiganj, Gazipur, Noakhali, Madaripur road crashes kill ten

A total of 10 persons were killed in separate road accidents in Munshiganj, Gazipur, Noakhali and Madaripur districts on Saturday, report agencies.
In Munshiganj, three members of a family were killed and two others injured when a covered van hit a private car on Dhaka-Chattogram highway at Baushia in Gazaria upazila of Munshiganj district on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Alamgir, 55, his wife Rahela Begum, 50, and their son Jahir, 30, of Chandpur district.
Rajib Khan, officer-in-charge of Gazaria police station, said that the accident occurred around 1:45 am when the covered van hit the Dhaka-bound private car from Chandpur, leaving three passengers of the car dead on the spot and two others injured.
In Gazipur, two construction workers were killed and five were injured when a truck collided with a pick-up van at Ansar Road in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur district early Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Russel Mia, 25, and Abu Sufian, 25, of Sunamganj district.
The accident occurred around 4:30 am when the dump truck hit the Mawna-bound pick-up van carrying construction workers, leaving Russel dead on the spot and six others injured, said Belal Ahmed, station officer of Sreepur Fire Service.
The injured were taken to the Sreepur Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared Sufian dead.In Noakhali, three people have died after a truck crashed into an auto-rickshaw at Begumganj in Noakhali district on Saturday.
A Fire Service team recovered the bodies from a canal in the Upazila's Chandraganj Purba Bazar area around 11am on Saturday, said Ruhul Amin, chief of the Chandraganj Highway Police Station.
The deceased were identified as Laxmipur residents Rahmat Ullah, 60, Alauddin, 45, and Fazlul Karim, 45.
It is believed that the accident occurred at some point on Friday night or Saturday morning, OC Ruhul said, citing locals. The two vehicles fell into the canal to the north of the market after the accident.
"Locals saw the truck and auto-rickshaw lying in the ditch this morning. They went into the canal, found two dead bodies in the autorickhaw, and informed the police. Police from the Begumganj Police Station and Chandraganj Highway Police Station went to the scene."
The Begumganj Fire Service was informed and they recovered the three bodies from the scene, the OC said.
Attempts are being made to recover the two vehicles from the canal and the bodies are being processed before being handed over to the families, Ruhul said.
In Madaripur, two passengers on a three-wheeler have died and three other people have been injured after a truck crashed into the three-wheeler in Rajoir upazila of Madaripur district on Saturday.
The accident occurred on the Rajoir-Sreenadi regional road next to the Kathalia Bridge, said Md Asaduzzaman Howlader, chief of Rajoir Police Station.
The deceased were identified as Hossain Munshi, 55, and Dhalu Howlader, 60, from Charghunshi village in Rajoir.
