Munshiganj road crash toll reaches five

The death toll in Munshiganj bus-Leguna collision reached five as an injured Leguna passenger died on his way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Wednesday night. Munshiganj assistant superintendent of police (ASP) Mohammad Shamsuzzaman said the accident took place on Wednesday evening when a Mowa-bound bus of ‘Ilish Paribahan’ collided a Dhaka-bound Laguna (human hauler) on Dhaka-Munshiganj highway at Nimtali in Sirajdikhan upazila. Four people died on the spot and several others injured, some of them critically, he said. One of the critically injured died on the way to the hospital, he added. The deceased were identified as Mohammad Ershad, 35, Leguna driver of Sreenagar upazila, Russell Miah, 30, his wife Sima Begum and his niece Alo,10, Leguna passengers of Sreenagar upazila and Madhuri Akhtar, 18, of Sirajdikhan upazila. The injured were admitted to different hospitals in Munshiganj and Dhaka including the DMCH. Shahmsuzzaman said the bus driver fled the scene, according to a news agency.
