Murder accused jumps to death off court Bhaban

A young man, arrested for killing his wife, allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Bhaban in Tangail on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Harunur Rashid Mondal, 28, son of late Fulchan Mondal of Palima village in Kalihati upazila. Sub-inspector Mosharraf Hossain of Kalihati Police Station said Harun tortured her wife Amena Begum, 18, to death on Monday night. Police recovered her body on Tuesday morning. Victims’ father Motaleb Hossain of Jashihati village in Basail upazila filed a case against Harun, his mother Tara Banu, younger brother Abdul Hamid and cousin Arif Hossain. Police arrested Harun from the Palima village on Tuesday night and produced him before the court on Wednesday. Harun wanted to drink water when he was taken in front of the chamber of Magistrate Maksudur Rahman on the fourth floor around 2pm for recoding his confessional statement. When a policeman went to bring water, Harun jumped off the veranda, leaving him dead on the spot, according to a news agency.
