Murder of suicide?

Autopsy report on a housewife in Chittagong’s Raozan Upazila has negated the confessional statement of her husband who is a suspect. In the statement to a court, Abu Bakkar had admitted to having murdered Rima Akter, but the autopsy report said it was a case of suicide. Body of Rima Akter, 22, was found hanging at Bakkar’s house at Natunhat in Nawajishpur union on September 24. Akter’s brother Touhidul Alam filed a murder case though Bakkar’s family said she had committed suicide. Bakkar gave confessional statement at Chittagong’s Senior Judicial Magistrate SM Masud Parvez’s court on Sept 25 following his arrest. But the autopsy report prepared by Chittagong Medical College Hospital’s forensic medicine department Medical Officer Mominur Rahman said Akter had taken her own life. Plaintiff’s lawyer Rezaul Karim Babar claimed: ‘The accused himself admitted that he committed the murder. But the autopsy report called it suicide. It’s contradictory.’ He expects that the court will act on the report. When asked, Mominur Rahman said that he mentioned in the report whatever the autopsy had revealed, according to bdnews24.com.
