Mushfiqur Rahim became the first Bangladeshi batter to reach the milestone of 6000 runs in the Test cricket during the course of his 31 not out against South Africa on Day 2 of the first cricket Test at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city on Tuesday, reports BSS.
The veteran batter needed 28 runs to achieve the feat when he came to bat in the second innings of Bangladesh. He completed the inevitable by reverse-sweeping Dane Piedt for a boundary behind point.
Mushfiqur's 6000 runs feat came in his 172 innings of 93 Test matches. The next best was Tamim Iqbal's 5134 runs in 134 innings of 70 Tests.
