Mushfiq waiting for best XI

Saturday, 8 March 2014

Bangladesh did not have the luxury to play with their best eleven in the Asia Cup but Mushfiqur Rahim, the skipper, now wants the return of Tamim Iqbal, Mashrafe Mortaza and Shohag Gazi to the side, reports bdnews24.com.
The hosts lost all four matches in the campaign, including the one against Afghanistan.
"Results aren't coming our way. We're not being able to play with the best combination. Tamim, Mashrafe, Shohag will return in the World Twenty20. I express the hope we'll be able to play with the best team," he said in the post-match press conference Thursday.
Mushfiq thinks that they needed to add 30 runs more to the total to pose any sort of challenge to Sri Lanka who defeated them by three wickets with one over to go. Despite the early collapse, the opposition batsmen batted intelligently to keep the chase on track.
"Losing in the end is doubly disheartening. Nothing else hurts more. Especially when you know that you have the ability to play better. If we kept our cool we could have done better."
Mushfiq blamed their luck for the poor run of form.
"We tried our hearts out in all four matches. We could've won three of them if we were a bit lucky," he explained.
The hosts will face Afghanistan in the opening match of the T20 World Cup.
Bangladesh need to get back confidence before the start of the most exciting competition in cricket.
"Doing well in any format is possible if there is confidence. T20 cricket requires lots of risk-taking. Confidence brings success here," he said.
He urged his teammates to work harder for the world event and said he wanted to make good use of the ten days before the competition began.
"We are not playing up to our mark. But we played well in the two matches after the Afghanistan match. The boys have turned around well," he said in search of something positive.
