Mushroom growth of KG schools goes on in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Dec 3: Commercial exploitation in the name of standard education is going on unabated through mushroom growth of Kindergarten (KG) schools in all corners of Rangpur district.
KG school business in Rangpur division city has now become a lucrative business for some, proliferating in all upazilas of the district.
The growth of KG schools in different parts of Rangpur including the city is due to inadequate teaching standard of government primary schools in the district, sources alleged.
Almost all the KG schools lack in proper accommodations, shortage of space, classrooms, educational equipment and qualified teachers and staffs. As a result those who are going to school for learning are being cheated.
Besides, most of the KG schools do not have sports facilities or any arrangement of recreation for the children.
According to sources more than 170 KG schools have been established in Rangpur district.
Sugarcane crushing on
Shaympur Sugar Mill, Badarganj in Rangpur district started sugarcane crushing Friday for the season of 2011-12.
Freedom fighter Muzibar Rahman formally inaugurated the crushing ceremony. Presided over by Managing Director of Shaympur Sugar Mill SM Abdul Aziz Badarganj upazila vice chairman Rafiqul Islam, Deputy Director of DAE Rangpur Golam Sobhani and GM Shaympur Sugar Mill Dilip Kuamr Biswas also spoke on the occasion.
According the mills sources a total of 9,000 hectares of land were brought under Sugarcane cultivation this season under the mill area.
The mill has set a target of producing 3,044 metric tonnes of sugar by crushing 55,000 metric tonnes of sugarcane this season wherein sugar recovery will be 7.25 per cent, sources added.
