MV Bangali launches Saturday

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) is going to launch its first locally built passenger vessel, MV Bangali, on Dhaka-Barisal route on Saturday. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to formally launch the ship, which has a capacity of carrying 50 passengers, said a handout. The 75.5-metre long, 12.5-metre wide ship can ply at the speed of 11.5 nautical miles per hour. Another locally built vessel, MV Modhumoti, is also expected to be added to the BIWTA fleet by June this year, according to a news agency.
