Myanmar ambassador summoned over Naf river shooting

Thursday, 18 June 2015

The foreign ministry has summoned the Myanmar ambassador in Dhaka in a fresh diplomatic row.
It asked him to tell his government to immediately send back abducted border guard Nayek ‘Razzak’ who was abducted and another of his colleague ‘Biplob’ received bullet wounds on Wednesday.
Myanmar’s Border Guard Police (BGP) opened fire on a Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) patrol boat in Naf River due to what the state minister for home said was a “misunderstanding”.
The foreign office on Thursday called in Ambassador Myo Myint Than and asked him to call his foreign office to take measures for sending ‘Razzak’ back.
“The Ambassador immediately called his foreign office,” said a source, privy to the matter, to bdnews24.com.
