Myanmar citizen arrested with contraband tablets

CHITTAGONG, Aug 22 (BSS): Police arrested a Myanmar citizen with a large quantity of contraband beef fattening tablets from the city's Shah Amanat Bridge area under Bakalia thana Thursday night.
The arrested person was identified as Mohammad Rafique (25), hailing from Mongdu province of Myanmar.
Bakalia police on secret information arrested Rafique with 10 thousand pieces of contraband 'Periactin' tablets from Shah Amanat Bridge area around 9:00 pm, said Mohammad Mohsin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bakalia thana. The person confessed that he smuggled the beef fattening tablets to Bangladesh to sell them to the cattle traders at high prices ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, the OC said adding that two cases were filed against him.
