Myanmar to return Razzak unconditionally: Asaduzzaman

Tuesday, 23 June 2015

State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan on Tuesday said Myanmar has agreed to return abducted BGB member Nayek Abdur Razzak without any condition.
“Last night I came to know through TV channels that they have put a condition to Razzak’s return. Earlier, on various occasions, they also demanded that 556 men be taken back by Bangladesh. We’ll bring them back on confirmation that they’re Bangladeshis,” he said.
The state minister said this while talking to reporters after the 27th meeting of National Acid Control Council at the Secretariat, a news agency report said.
Myanmar’s Border Guard Police (BGP) opened fire on a Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) patrol boat in Teknaf of Cox’s Bazar district last week.
A BGB sepoy, Biplob Kumar, suffered bullet wounds during the firing and another BGB member, Abdur Razzak, was abducted by the BGP.
On Monday, Myanmar said they will hand over Razzak if Bangladesh agrees to bring back 556 rescued Bangladeshi migrants from Myanmar.
Asaduzzaman Khan alleged that Myanmar is doing excesses as the issue of Razzak and that 556 men are quite different.
In reply to a question, he said a flag meeting between BGB and BGP will be held soon to bring back Razzak.
