Myanmarese man detained after attack on BGB in Rangamati

A Myanmar citizen was arrested at Rajasthali, adjacent to Rangamati-Bandarban border, on Wednesday night for his suspected link to Myanmar insurgent group ‘Arakan Army’ following a gunfight between BGB and the insurgent group members in Bandarban district.
Army and police launched a joint drive after the incident and arrested Ong U Yang Rakhain.
Tipped off, a team of joint force conducted a drive in the house of Renin Jou, also a Netherlands expatriate, and arrested Ong U Yang, said officer-in-charge of Rjashtali Police Station Wahidul Islam.
The joint force members also seized clothes used for making the uniform of the Arakan Army, three laptops and three cameras from his possession.
Ong, meanwhile, confessed to his involvement with Arakan Army during the primary interrogation.
UNB added: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan and Director General (DG) of BGB Major General Aziz Ahmed visited Baramadak in Thanchi upazila of the district where the gunfight took place between BGB and Arakan Army men on Wednesday morning, leaving a BGB member injured, said BGB Deputy Commander (Bandarban sector) Major Zahiruddin Mohammed Babar.
