Myanmar\\\'s border police fire into Bangladesh territory

Myanmar's border police fired into Bangladesh at Naikkhangchharhi border of Bandarban district on Friday. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) troops returned the fire, BGB sources said. Witnesses said BGB personnel fired back after its Myanmar counterpart fired into Bangladesh at Naikkhangchharhi frontier. However, no casualties were immediately reported. BGB’s Bandarban Commander Col KM Saiful Islam said the gunfight lasting 45 minutes started on Friday afternoon. It was not immediately clear what had triggered the skirmish. BGB and local sources said Myanmar’s border guards known as ‘Nasaka’ opened fire at around 4:00pm targeting Bangladeshi frontier villages without any provocation, according to bdnews24.com.
