Mysterious death of housewife in city

Death of a housewife Friday at her in-laws house at Wari in the old city shrouded in mystery, reports BSS.
The victim, Momata Rani Pal Tumpa (20), wife of Shovon Ranjan, was a first year honours student at Central Women College.
The body of the victim was recovered from her husband's house on Shah Saheb lane in Narinda around 5.45 am, Champak Chakroborti, sub-inspector of Wari thana told the news agency.
Doctors on-duty at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) pronounced her dead after her admission there, he said adding that the cause of her death could not be ascertained, quoting doctors as saying.
He said nothing could be said whether it was killing or suicide without getting the postmortem report.
However, Nitai Pal, father of the victim, claimed that her daughter was killed in a planned way by her in-laws as she had been tortured several times after two months of her marriage for dowry.
Nitai also said his daughter Tumpa called him over phone at 12:00 am Thursday night and requested him to take her as she could not bear the torture any more.
Tumpa got married with Shovon five months back, he said adding that he gave Tk 0.35 million and seven tolas of gold at the time of marriage.
