Mystery shrouds death of BSRI Chief Scientific Officer

PABNA, Mar 4: Mystery shrouds the death of Chief Scientific Officer of Bangladesh Sugarcane Research Institute (BSRI) Md Abdullah.
There are conflicting reports about the death of Mr Abdullah. According to sources, the scientific officer was killed in a road accident inside the campus of the institute on Wednesday although the authority of the institute claimed he died of cardiac arrest.
The deceased Md. Abdullah, 52, hailed from Trishal in Mymenshing. He was the chief scientific officer of the BSRI at Ishwardi in Pabna.
Ishwardi upazila health officer Dr. Amin Ahmed Khan said the victim was attacked with cardiac arrest and was suffering from severe chest pain. As his condition deteriorated he was referred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital but he died on the way to Rajshahi at about 12.30 p.m. at Lalpur in Natore.
Although we have learnt that the victim fell sick after being hit by a vehicle inside the campus, there was no visible external injury on his body, Dr. Amin said.
Director General of the institute Dr. Khalilur Rahman did not talk to journalists after the incident but the public relations officer (PRO) Shafi Al Amin confirmed the death denying the allegation of accident.
"Abdullah was going to join a field visit with a German team inside the campus. Suddenly he fell sick on the road and died following cardiac arrest." the PRO said.
