Mystery shrouded the death of a housewife in the city. The body of Momata Rani Pal Tumpa, 20, has been recovered from the house of her husband, Shovon Ranjan, in Wari in Old Dhaka. The victim was an honours 1st year student at Central Women’s College in Wari. Police said Momata Rani Pal’s body was recovered from her husband’s house, 71/1, Shah Saheb Lane of Narinda under Wari Police Station around 6:00 am. Sub Inspector Champak Chakroborti said on-duty doctors of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) pronounced her dead afterwards her admission there. He said that according to the doctors the cause of her death is hanging. The police officer, however, said that nothing could be said whether it was killing or suicide without getting the postmortem report. Nitai Pal, father of the victim, claimed that her daughter was killed in a planned way by her in-laws as she had been tortured several times after two months of her marriage for dowry, according to a news agency.
