NILPHAMARI, Dec 07: Raw hide traders of the northern region urged the government to curtail the domination by the non-bonafide hides and skin traders and introduce licences for the traders.
They called for bank loan facilities from the government for small raw hide traders of the region.
They also made the appeal as the small traders were not able to buy raw hides adequately because of their financial crisis.
They were unable to preserve their collected hides and skins due to high price of salt.
In this situation they were forced to sell their collected hides to the big merchants at cheaper rates.
According to sources, a huge amount of money of the small traders of the northern region was lying with the Dhaka-based tannery owners.
