Nahid meets academics

Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid has been involved in extensive discussions with academics and representatives of civil society over the question paper leak of public examinations. The Education Minister said at the meeting, which started around 10:00am on Wednesday, 'I want to know what do you think needs to be done.' SUST teacher Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, Dhaka University's teacher Harun-Or-RashidRafiqul Islam, Prof Abdullah Abu Sayeed, Jahangirnagar University's VC Farzana Islam, economists MM Akash, Quazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad and many others attended the meeting. The English second paper examination of HSC exam had to be rescheduled this year after allegations of question paper leak. Allegations of leak of question papers of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics have also surfaced. SUST teacher Zafar Iqbal published four articles in newspapers where he cited 'proof' of leak. Education Minister Nahid also wrote an article in reply. On May 29 and June 6, Zafar Iqbal along with students, teachers and parents were involved in a sit-in demonstration at the capital's Shahid Minar on the issue. The education ministry has set up a committee to probe the leak of English questions. They are yet to submit the findings, according to bdnews24.com.
