Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said on Sunday Bangladesh has attached priority to human resource development to ensure better access to job markets, reports BSS.
He made the comment when Minister of State for Asia and the Pacific at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Mark Field called on him at the latter's office, an official release said.
Mark Field led a 10-member delegation of the UK.
Nahid sought cooperation of the UK for improving quality of education. "The United Kingdom is an important development partner of Bangladesh….The UK is extending supports in different fields of development in Bangladesh," he said.
Nahid said Bangladesh has made a significant progress in different indicators of education including checking drop-out rate and achieving gender parity as the government has implemented many pragmatic programmes.
The minister said, "At present, 14 per cent students are studying technical education in the country. We are planning to reach 20 per cent by 2021 to make Bangladesh an economically advanced country," he added.
