Nalua UP chairman shot dead

Our Correspondent CHITTAGONG, Dec 26: Unidentified gunmen today shot dead chairman of a union parishad at his village home at Satkania Upazila of the district. He was president of Juba League, youth front of the ruling Awami League, of Nalua union unit. Police said a gang of armed miscreants shot Nurul Absar (40) at village Nalua as he came out to the veranda of the house upon hearing a sound at around 2.30 Sunday night. The miscreants left the scene in moments of the incident. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Satkania police station Khaled Hussain said Absar returned home at 1.00 am after attending the founding anniversary of Dhemsa High School of the upazila. Critically injured Absar was rushed to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital where the attending physicians pronounced him dead.
