Name of Bangabandhu, BCL part of nation's history: PM

Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina Monday said that the name of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) were a part of the history of the nation, reports UNB.
"If anyone wants to write the history of the country and the nation, the name of Bangabandhu and BCL will have to be there", she said.
She was inaugurating the website of textbooks for the primary and secondary school students, opening up a new window for easy access to their textbooks.
Hasina said that Bangladesh Chhatra League was linked with all democratic movements of the country, including the Liberation War. "The role of BCL is unprecedented in the history of the country."
The PM recalled her political life as a student and as a worker of BCL as well as the leading role of this student organisation in all democratic movements, War of Liberation as well as establishment of the rights of the people.
Press secretary to the PM Abul Kalam Azad briefed the journalists after inauguration of the textbook website.
Mentioning that BCL was established before Bangladesh Awami League (AL), Hasina said the roles Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and that of Chhatra League were very closely connected in attaining the country's rights.
Inaugurating the website, the PM said that her government had been working to turn Bangladesh into a digital nation in accordance with its pledges in the election manifesto.
Hasina said this website would facilitate the students at home and abroad studying under Bangladesh curriculum to easily access their textbooks.
Besides, she said this website would permanently eradicate shortage of textbooks and mismanagement in the distribution of textbooks every year.
