Naohata mayor Gafur missing for 16 days

RAJSHAHI, Jan 22: Mayor of Naohata Municipality and president of Naohata Municipal unit of Awami League (AL) Abdul Gafur remained missing for the last 16 days. Fazilatun Nessa Parul, wife of the missing mayor, filed a general diary (GD) with the Paba thana on January 19 in this connection.
According to the GD, Abdul Gafur went out of his house for Dhaka on January 1. He  talked with his family members over his cell phone after arriving in Dhaka. But after January 5 family members of Abdul Gafur failed to make contact with him.
His cell phone remained active but no one attended it. When the family members called him again on the phone on Monday last, an SMS returned from the cell phone of the mayor saying to send Tk 50,000.
Being suspected at the message, wife of the mayor filed a GD with the Paba thana. Matiar Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of the Paba thana, informed that location of Abdul Gafur was identified on Monday but since Tuesday his location could not be known.
