Awami League (AL) presidium member and spokesperson of 14-party alliance Mohammad Nasim said on Monday NAP and Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) should play a role in the field of politics as opposition, reports BSS.
"We want that pro-liberation political parties should play the role of opposition. It will replace BNP- Jamaat as strong pro-liberation opposition party," he said.
The AL leader came up with the remarks while speaking at a memorial meeting on Prof Muzaffar Ahmed, one of the political luminaries of the country and former president of Bangladesh National Awami Party (Pro-Moscow NAP), at the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) auditorium in the city.
The 14-party alliance spokesman urged the political parties involved in hatching conspiracy over Rohingya issue to stop their plotting, reports BSS.
"We sheltered Rohingyas on humanitarian ground. But the evil forces have started hatching conspiracies over the issue. Please stop your plotting over Rohingya issue," he said.
He urged the international community to put strong pressure on Myanmar for taking back the Rohingyas to their homeland Myanmar.
The veteran politician also urged the country's all political parties to be united over the issue.
Elimination of militancy has been possible only for unity, Nasim said, adding, "Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina sheltered the Rohingyas on humanitarian ground. But now they should be repatriated to their homeland Myanmar. I hope, we will be able to resolve the Rohingya crisis unitedly."
