Narayanganj 7 murders: 3 Rab men make ‘confessions’

NARAYANGANJ: Three members of Rab-11, who were arrested Wednesday, reportedly made their ‘confessional’ statements separately Saturday over their involvement in the sensation seven-murder incident.
The statement of Habildar Emdadul Haq was recorded at the court of senior judicial magistrate Chandni Rupam while that of Sepahi Abu Tayub at the court of senior judicial magistrate Monwara Begum and that of lance nayek Hira Miah at the court of senior judicial magistrate AK Mohiuddin, according to a news agency.
Superintendent of police of Naraynagnaj Dr Khandaker Mohiduddin said they confessed under section 164 of the penal code.
Earlier Wednesday, police arrested five members of Raid Action Battalion (Rab) -- Emdadul Haque, Arif Hossain, Hira Mia, Bilal Hossain and Abu Tayab -- in connection with the seven-murder case.
On April 27, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam, his three associates and driver were abducted from Fatullah area in Narayanganj city. Hours into their abduction, senior lawyer of the Narayanganj District Judge’s Court, Chandan Kumar Sarker, and his driver were abducted on their way to capital Dhaka.
