Tuesday, 8 July 2014

Those responsible for the abduction and murder of seven people in Narayanganj have been ‘identified’ in the investigation progress report submitted to the High Court. Mizanur Rahman Khan, member of the administrative probe committee, formed following the court’s order, submitted the document to the Attorney General’s office on Tuesday. ‘We have found out who are involved. We are working on ascertaining the motive behind the murders. ‘We are also working to gather further evidence on those that were involved,’ he said. Seven people, including Narayanganj City Corporation’s Ward 4 Councillor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer of Narayanganj District Bar Association Chandan Kumar Sarkar, were abducted on April 27 in the city. A few days later, their bodies were found floating in Shitalakhkha and Dhaleswari rivers.
